Thailand Announces New Visa Initiatives to Attract Tourists
The Thai government has implemented a number of new visa programs aimed at boosting tourism in the country. These changes will go into effect in two phases: June 1st, 2024 and September 2024.
Thailand Visa Changes Effective June 1st, 2024:
Visa Exemption (TR-60):
- Increased number of visa-free countries from 57 to 93.
- Extended visa-free stay period from 30 days to 60 days.
- List of visa-free countries now includes: Albania, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, and many more (see full list below).
Visa on Arrival (VOA) (TR-15):
- Expanded list of countries eligible for VOA from 19 to 31.
- Nationals of these countries can apply for a visa upon arrival in Thailand, valid for 15 days. (see full list below)
Long-Term Visa for Remote Workers and Students:
- A new five-year visa is available for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, and those interested in learning Muay Thai or Thai cuisine.
- This visa allows stays of up to 180 days, with the possibility of a 180-day extension.
Extended Stay for Foreign Graduates:
- Foreign university graduates can now stay in Thailand for one year after graduation to find employment.

Visa on Arrival (VOA) (TR-15) Countries (as of May 29, 2024):

Effective September 2024:
- Increased number of locations offering e-visa application services from 47 to 94 embassies and consulates-general.
