- Foreign residents who are considered tax residents (staying in Thailand for more than 180 days in a calendar year) need a TIN, especially if they have foreign income brought into Thailand. (Section 167 of the Revenue Code)
- Individuals who are VAT or Specific Business Tax (SBT) registrants, regardless of residency status. (Section 80 of the Revenue Code)
- Businesses: All legal entities, domestic and foreign, that pay taxes or income to employees require a TIN. (Announcement of the Revenue Department No. Gor. Por. 23/2535)
